Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) may transport users to simulated worlds and overlay digital information onto the physical realm, but the profits to recognize from the growing industry are no illusion.

Although virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) have existed in some form for decades, only recently have they garnered mainstream attention.

Although virtual reality and augmented reality have been part of the Consumer Electronics Show for years, 2016 marks the first time CES has a dedicated augmented reality space (encompassing 5,000 square feet), featuring companies like Sony Electronics, Voke VR, and Infinity AR. Microsoft’s HoloLens won’t be at the show, and it’s still uncertain whether Google will debut Glass 2.0 during its keynote.

ChinaJoy 2016 recently started exhibitor recruitment and will offer early bird discount for exhibitors tillJanuary 31, 2016.

In the official promotion, we can see for the first time ChinaJoy will put equally importance to both the entertainment devices on the hardware end and the game products on the software end. For the industry, and for the players, ChinaJoy 2016 will probably show the most HARDNESS feature they will experience since inception of ChinaJoy.

The 14th ChinaJoy Expo will be held at Shanghai New International Expo Center through July 28th - 31st, 2016. And now, the work of exhibitor recruitment is underway going on.

For the first time in the festival’s seven year history, an AR/VR lounge was set up separate from the traditional film screenings to showcase short films that illustrated the immersive abilities of both of these technologies.

Kevin Chou is a young chief executive, but in six swift years, he has grown Kabam into a $400 million free-to-play mobile gaming company with 800 employees. Kabam has forged alliances with Hollywood studios like Lionsgate, Universal, Warner Bros., and Disney. One game from just one of those alliances, Marvel: Contest of Champions, has generated more than $100 million in revenue in just seven months.

This year, the World Mobile Game Conference (abbreviation: WMGC) will welcome Glu's President of Publishing: Chris Akhavan, who will lecture to China’s game operators on his successful experience in the global game distribution business.

Augmented and virtual reality have one big thing in common. They both have the remarkable ability to alter our perception of the world. Where they differ, is the perception of our presence.
