As an event with an extensive influence in game developing field, China Game Developers Conference (CGDC) 2011 will be held in conjunction with the ChinaJoy expo on July 28th –30th, 2011. The CGDC 2010was closed on August 1st, 2010 with a huge success, in which 87experts and nearly five thousand professionals of the game industry exchanged their valuable ideas.
With the goal of gathering technical elites in the game developing field, the 2011 conference focuses on PC/console games, mobile games, game outsourcing, especially online games; covering all topics of different fields in game industry, such as game design, programming, arts, audio, management and development tools etc.. Attendees of the conference will exchange ideas, share experience and discuss about new technical development trends. The conference is highlighted by:
Topics in game development covering multiple fields for discussion;
Focusing on theory and practice, technical elites and entrepreneurs will be invited to participate.
Ⅰ Procedures
Phase one: Submission of papers (Dec. 28th, 2010– Apr. 10th, 2011)
Anyone who propose to speak at the conference, please submit the form with the information below:
The detailed contact information, including your full name, telephone number and e-mail;
Biography: experiences in the game industry;
The speeches made: with a reference of the conferences, topics and the feedbacks
The topic of the proposed speech;
Target audience and the knowledge provided;
Please provide in the form a summary of your presentation, covering all aspects of the speech, no less than 800 words.
Phase two: Review on papers (Apr. 10th – Jun. 10th, 2011)
The Advisory Board will review the papers submitted;
If a paper is approved by the Advisory Board, the Organizing Committee will notify the proposing speaker via e-mail before June 10th, 2011;
For those papers accepted, the speakers are to provide the speech scripts to the Committee before June 20th, 2011.
If a speech is declined, the Organizing Committee will grant the proposing speaker a discount for the conference pass. .
Requirements on the papers
A proposed paper should cover the topics in programming, arts, game design, operation, management, security, testing and game audio, however, suggestions for the relevant topics, if more suitable, are welcomed;
The public sessions at the CGDC are reserved for the exchange of new technology and knowledge, therefore, no speech for these sessions may involve any form of business promotion and marketing. The Advisory Board may delete, edit the speech or ask the proposing speaker to revise the content of the speech in order to protect the interests of the audience. For any intention of business promotion at the conference for a certain product, service or branding, please contact the sponsorship salespeople of the Organizing Committee, who will make their utmost endeavor to satisfy your need for marketing purposes;
Once the script of a proposing speaker is reviewed and approved, he/she may not revise the content of it unless proper notification is made to the Organizing Committee at least one week before the scheduled speech and the said revision is approved by letter. The speech made at the conference should have its content completely in line with that of the script and anything not yet approved may not be included in the speech, or else it will seriously affect the qualifications of the speakers to attend the conferences of the following years. This, however, does not include the questions raised by the audience onsite.
Ⅱ Standards for Review
All the papers, which will be reviewed anonymously by all the members of the Advisory Board, should comply with the following three principles and four standards provided by the Organizing Committee. Excerpts or extracts will be published at the official website of the conference.
Three Principles:
Speeches submitted should be original, valuable and compliant with the requirements of the conference.
Four Standards: consideration is given to these four aspects
View point: does the speaker have a clear view point, does what he talks about appeal to the audience, and is it helpful for the audience to accumulate relevant knowledge and experience?
Profundity: audience will gain more from a profound speech; therefore, the Advisory Board will concern what the audience may explore from a speech. Generally speaking, a speech of depth will be more favorably rated;
Professional standing: the Advisory Board will also look at the experience and achievements of a speaker in the area he/she chooses to talk about;
The admission of the audience: what the audience may gain from a speech is always the No. 1 concern of the Advisory Board, as it is the true essence of the CGDC;
III. What we provide to speakers?
A CGDC VIP Pass, which entitles them to attend all the sessions at the CGDC, the banquets hosted by the CGDC Organizing Committee, and the exhibitions held by the Committee during ChinaJoy 2011
Pictures and biographies of the speakers will be published on the official website and conference directory;
Reputation of speakers inside the industry will be increased through the conference.
IV. Advices from the Organizing Committee
Before starting the preparation, please read carefully the conference’s agenda, topics and rules for speech submission. Attention should also be given to the length requirement and submission deadline for the speech.
Of course, preparation is key to a successful and well-received CGDC speech. Therefore, we’d like to address you the following advises:
1. The script you submit should be in line with what you are going to speak at the conference;
2. Please spend at least 10 hours to properly and fully understand the topic you are going to speak about;
3. Please practice your speech. Tape-record-and-check is also encouraged, as it would be a useful way to supervise and control the timing of your speech.
